Paying for College: One Crown at a Time
MUNICE, IN
College tuition is gradually increasing and students are seeking alternative ways to pay for education. Junior Marketing Major Gabrielle Bunn not only works two jobs along with being a full-time student, but also competes in pageants one tiara at a time. Bunn’s first Miss America affiliated pageant was during her freshman year at Miss Ball State in 2012.
“The Miss America Organization is the largest scholarship provider for young women.”
Bunn has competed in more than 20 different pageants, including one of her most recent competitions taking place on campus, Miss Ball State.
“Miss Ball State is where I started, it’s my home,” says Bunn.
In January, Bunn received first runner-up with a $700 scholarship. She hopes to compete again next year to take home the title and a $2,000 scholarship. The Miss Ball State pageant is the title Bunn hopes to take home. By doing so she must flourish in the interview, question, swimsuit and talent categories.
Last summer Bunn competed in the Miss Indiana pageant with her representation as Miss White River. She took the stage showing her talent and sharing her platform, breast cancer awareness. Her goal is to educate girls on the matter and to overall, spread awareness.
